Art as jewels for buildings in Kivistö

for Lujatalo

Art hand railing, a gate and a hut to sit in.

Location: Vantaa, Finland

Co-operation with: L-arkkitehdit (architectural planning)

Year: 2016–

The playful canopy of the Herakles-quaters protects from the noise caused by air traffic. Thick wooden shingles serve as the material. The canopy brings another dimension into the middle of the large area.

An iron gate forged by a local blacksmith brings traditional craftmanship to the edge of the central Sapphire Square.

A handrail can be art in itself. A handrail forged by a blacksmith reminds that just a short while ago the site was a dense forest. The inspiration for the handrail was derived from spruce needles.
